Day 1. Christchurch
We arrived on time after a surprisingly bearable flight only to have the realisation that I had to part with my chocs upon landing for bio rules. Boo. Never mind, we passed through customs without the 400dollar fine as a result so all ok. Seemed a bit expensive for 2 bags of minstrels!
We thought about a bus but taxi seemed quickest option and we were at hotel in under an hour from landing. Hotel was lovely and our room had a fab big bed which was just what was needed after the flight.
In a bid to stay awake we freshened up in loos and went off to explore. First stop gondola. We got a bus out there which was easy and got our tickets although rob was tempted to include some mountain biking ... I think his experience in Berlin must have turned him!
Gondola was great and we couldn't believe how much like the lakes the scenery looked. Rob has a new found love to what we initially thought was a pants looking harbour after he realised it was the door to antartica and shackleton and Scott had been there! There was a piccie of Shackleton on the wall and I Sussed he was 35 in this. He looked really old so we took a pic to make the boys feel better!
After mooch about we got bus back to town and hit the tram. All old school and very festive it was odd seeing Christmas decorations out here and also carols on the bus! Tram was good Barr the little crash at the end and we both concluded Christchurch was lovely.
Tired we went back to Hotel to chill. So tired we ordered room service and promptly passed out on the bed. Rob looked so upset with tiredness he went bright red!
Slept right through but up early next day ...
