Well rock and ropes wasnt that bad...wasnt that easy either so i didnt do the bits where u had to jump off 15m high telegraph poles but anj, of course did, twice! It was a lot of walking along blanks, rickety bridges and wires very high up, we were in a group with 2 gay yorkshire men...gay yorkshire men?? We got more free drinks at the bar that night, we added them up (once sober obv.) and between us we had 22 free drinks, wahay! Next day we walked to the Thermal pool by the river, very hot and very steamy but wierd cos we were outside and it was cold. We finished our time in Taupo by watching the lions lose at 3am in an irish bar, not the perfect ending but a good game.
On to Rotorua, we went to a Maori culture evening which was amazing, best bit had to be the bus drives there and back though, the driver daid the meaning of "Kia Ora" in 52 different languages without taking a breath, very impressive and on the way back went round a round about 8 times while singin "here we go round the mulberry bush" Very funny until he told us he didnt have a licence. Anyway the concert, a haka and looking round the maori village was all very entertaining haha. One BIG maori guy intoduced us to his friend as sally and tanya, his wives, news to us! Then explained that he couldnt have 2 wives as this was now illegal and had a very sad face and a quivering lip, bless. Also in Rotorua we went to the smelly but lovely polynesian spa and grade 5 white wahter rafting, both of which got us very wet. The rafting was really fun and we didnt fall in, yay, we survived 3 waterfalls, the largest of which was 7m, the biggest comercial rafting waterfall in NZ! The water at the spa was just a tad warmer than in the Kaituna river, the hottest pool was 42 degrees! In rotorua we alse did lugeing, ie. sledging on wheels, very fun, very fast and very cold.
Then to Auckland, did a bit of shopping with some guys from the kiwi bus and that was about it... We got up very early the next day to go to Pahia, the bay of islands which was almost warm, jeans and tshirt weather! We went on a ferry round the islands, saw the famous hole in the rock, seals and bottle nose dolphins which were HUGE,like whale size!! Today we went up to the treaty house in Waitungai, very famous historical cultural sort of place, quite interesting but not very exciting.
And now we are back in Auckland and are about to go drink our last night in New Zealand away (and get ready for our 18 hours of flying tomorrow when we get up in 4 hours time!), We have both really enjoyed being in New Zealand and agree that this has been the best part of our trip, the coldest bit but the best!
Looking forward to South Africa shall try and update over there but havnt heard good things about tinternet over there!
Enjoying travels but looking forward to home and proper tea in 10 days :)
Lots of love us two xxxx
