OMG we have so much to write about!! Prepare yourselves...
We started our "Suntanner Tour" a week ago saturday and i wouldnt really call it a suntanner...weve had s***e weather!! Our first activity was to cuddle a koala which was rather smelly and heavy but no peeing or biting so we cant complain! That evening we went to tjapukai cultural theme park for dinner complete in our face paints with some semi-naked aboriginals. And by the way it is not as easy as it looks to play the digereedoo! That night we had our first roomie- Catherine who has been with us ever since- kool kid!
Next to the reef WOW! We both snorkled and scuba dived, soo amazing! Anj saw a turtle and Dory but i had a 1 on 1 dive with my instructer so got to touch loads of coral and play with nemo! There were load of colourful fish and stingrays, was soo cool. The most impressive part of anjs day was the card tricks bu one of the crew, even with invisible cards!
Then to Undara (the outback!) where we camped in perminant tents tho so we werent slummin' it too much. Went for a drive- saw kangaroos, wallabeys and wallaroos.. not sure if they were having us on with the wallaroos! Also went to a very dark lava tube ( with a snake warning!) with millions of bats, we tried to take pics, i was unsuccessful but anj got one bat in a pic ( which is uploaded). Had our first aussie BBQ here... WITH NO BAPS!!! Can u believe a barbey with no baps! Shockin. It was really dark going back to our tent and neither of us had a torch so we resorted to taking pics with our cameras and using the flash to light the way very quickly! Woke up the next morning and had like 50 crappy pics to delete.
Tuesday we went sailing in the whitsundays for 3 days, and it was proper sailing mind, clinging on for dear life! We snorkled again and when to whitehaven beach 99.8% silica sand was beautiful (see pic above) but it was pissin it down so we played beach games in the rain with out stinger suits on - so much fun! Our first experience of getting drunk on a boat- ever heard of goon? Its dirt cheap wine boxes here and its brill. After being cold, miserable, smelly and slightly seasich for most of the sailing we all perked up on the way back to airlie beach when the sun came out! We wwent out that night in airlie beach..got drunk again..
We travelled down to Rockhampton the next day, the Beef capital of Queensland. We are not very knowledge-a-bull about the area but found it very enjoy-a-bull too. Went to a rodeo which was so exciting, loads of kids did it and were so good at it, anj put them to shame tho when she took to the floor... JOKE!
Next day was a fair bit of travelling on our beloved bus-Bob. We stopped at Gin gin, australias friendliest town two years running. It is also famous for pies so of course we indulged and had to explain to a canadian what a pie is :O she had never had one before!! Made our way to fraser Island that evening which was a lot bigger and hillier than we were exprecting. 8 of us UKs rented a 4 wheel drive which we took around the island on the sandy bumpy tracks- was a lot of fun but very tense, we all had a go at driving, gettin geared up for our camper van! Went up to lake mckenzie which was beautiful, especially in the sun!
We stopped for 2 hours in Brisbane yesterday, we decided to be cultural and took a stroll around the botanical gardens and over the river to the man made beach of southbank which we will hopefully travel back up to with the van.
We are now sat in Byron bay, going ocean kayaking tomorrow, we shall let you know how that goes soon!
Hopefully it wont be such a long time to the next update and for me to finally put some pics on here ( i keep clicking and cocking it up :().
Missing you all but loving our comments, keep em coming!
Lots of love us 2 xxxxxxxx
P.S well done dyls for finally making it to the loo, attaboy xx
