Copacabana
We arrived into Copacabana late afternoon. To get here the bus went on a small wooden boat to be transported across Lake Titicaca. Hence we all had to disembark and be taken on smaller speed boats across to the other side. We all watched and I was secretly praying that it didn't sink as all our luggage and worldly possessions would sink with it. Lake Titicaca is huge, apparently the worlds highest altitude lake.
We arrived at our hostel and it was nice, although very cold. I have never felt cold like it before, luckily we could borrow a portable gas fire until 10pm every night which kept us toasty. We spent nearly a week in Copacabana. It was a nice small place to chill and was reasonably cheap. One day was spent taking a boat trip to Isla Del Sol. Isla del Sol is the legendary Inca creation site and the birthplace of the sun in Inca mythology. We walked from one end to the other through the middle of the island which took about 3 hours. It was hard going at first, especially up hill due to the 4000 meter altitude. There are no roads on the island so all goods are transported by donkeys. It was a glorious sunny day too, which made the pictures really pop. The views from the highest point on the island are great, you can see for miles and the snow capped peaks of the Andes.
We eventually decided to leave Copacabana, we both were sad to go as we knew this was the last stop in Bolivia.
Next stop Peru!
