Today we rode to Mt. Batur, 1 hour north of Ubud in the Kintamani area. The view from the main road before descending down to the lake is absolutely breathtaking. The calm green water of Lake Batur nestled nearby the volcano is spectacular. You can still see the area where the lava flowed years ago and has left the area barren with large boulders surrounding the neighboring area. A sharp contrast to the lush, green fertile land covered with terraced gardens on the other side of the lake. There are many foundations and partial brick walls as evidence of a village destroyed by the last devastating volcano. A steep windy road that has more than its fair share of potholes and lack of shoulders makes for a cautious ride down.
Not quite sure where to find the hotsprings we get directions from a helpful local.
It's a spectacular setting with 2 large terraced swimming pools overlooking Lake Batur. The beautiful weather makes the water even more inviting. After a couple of hours spent relaxing in the pools we enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to Ubud.
