I'm in Austrailia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WoooooooooHooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So i've been here, in sydney, for four days now. My flight was fairly uneventful and i wasn't surprised to find it raining when i landed, bad weather is following us around!! But despite the rain the temperature difference is very noticable, its been very humid alot of the time, not as hot as i expected but thats because sydney is the coolest place in the country at the mo and average temp is only 25 degrees not the 35 i was warned about!!!
Sydney reminds me alot of London, the roads are small, the houses close together, its HUGE, there is a Hyde Park and Oxford st runs off it, and Kings Cross is a dodgy area of town!!!! Despite this or inspite of this i really like it here, theres a balance of strange familirality and newness. Havn't seen that much of the city yet though because Al and I have been searching for a car and yesterday....we found one....wooohooo!! Its a Ford Falcon 'Station Wagon'. It cost a little more than we expected but there is a huge amount of room to sleep ion the back and the dealer we got it from specialises is cars for travellers so we get all sorts of benefits like them sorting out the paper work(and there is alot of expensive paper work!), a three month warrenty, roadside assistance and a 'buy back' gaurantee so if we can't sell it privately then they'll buy it back. This is a huge weight off our shoulders, the only draw back being it may take up to ten days for them to finish working on the engine(they fix them up, like an mot/service before they sell them) and sydney is very very expensive!!
Going to spend the next few days checking out the sights, Sydney Harbour bridge, the Opera house, Darling Harbour and of course many of the beautiful beaches including Bondi. We're on the look out for second hand surf boards too and i'm going to find a local surfer to give me private surf lessons...the surf schools charge loads!
We're also trying to get tickets for a festivsal called 'Good Vibrations' which is on in Feb in Sydney, the line up sounds wicked i'm mainly excited about ....The Beastie Boys!!!!!!!!!!!!! But there is hoards of other people too like Jurassic 5 and Timo Mass.
Just a brief catch up from our last week in New Zealand too, we did some wine tastings around Napier and Hastings and got very cold in Gisborne!!!! We stayed in Tauranga with Tam and Neil and gave the car back then they gave us a life back to auckland, stopping to explore some caves on the way and to see a massive gold mine in Caranaghacka(not sure of spelling!!) Gorge!!!
