Today started grey and rainy but fortunately no sign of snow. Tai Chi on the rooftop at 6.30am was less wild than the day before but a bit wetter. It didn't matter though. The view is one of the best I've ever seen.
After breakfast we headed for the area by the cable car which was to take us after lunch up towards the Golden Summit but not before we did further training.
It was still raining when we arrived so we waited till the bus shelter emptied and started our practice there. Fortunately it stopped raining half way through so we moved to a secluded platform (away from Chinese tourists taking our pictures!) with a magnificent view over the mountains. The view was so good that at the end of the session Tary had us posing for a panoramic photos.
Lunch followed in one of the local hotels. The meal was lovely. After that we headed for the cable car which would take us towards the summit. The views from the cable car are stunning including a great view of all the trees with the lilac blossom. Once we were off the cable car we had the option to walk the final distance by foot. This was done by climbing plenty of steep steps. Hopefully the photos will show how steep. On the way there were platforms to admire the view and take photos. It's like being on top of the world. Words can't describe how beautiful it is. The air is constantly filled with bird song and the trees and blossoms are heaven sent.
It wasn't as crowded at the top as last time and we could enjoy the views for quite some time. On the way down Sue and I got a big muddled finding the right path. It has changed slightly since last time and there is construction work going on at certain points but we so enjoyed the whole experience.
Once down back by the cable cars everyone had the choice of either walking back to the hotel (approx 9000 steps down) or getting the cable car down. About 15 decided to walk down - that included Ian. I chose the cable car and coach back to the hotel as I had walked down last time and wanted a different experience. The walkers actually made it back before us but we had loads of time on the summit which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I think everyone will sleep well tonight. We leave Wudang tomorrow. We have some shopping time in the morning at the bottom of the mountain then after lunch we board the coach for our 6 hour journey to Xian. We will be there for the next few days.
