So we arrived to the island of Langkawi, off of the very choppy speedboat, and choppy it was, the who place stank of sick, we were both feeling rough to but managed to fall alseep within the waves and urging.
When we woke up and the smell of sick was lingering in the air still me and lucy decided to go top deck to get a bit of fresh air and we knew instantly that we would love it here, the senery from when we docked to the drive to pantai cenang (beach cenang) where we were staying was literally like something from a film our sighs of releif could probably be heard from space ha ha we got dropped off at ghecho our hostel and headed for the beach, white sand, clear blue sea and sky, mountains and islands in the distance this really is what paradise looks like :) and we felt very lucky to be here and then 2 minutes in low and behold it absolutly hammered down and we ran to the nearest beach bar called little lylia's where we ended up staying for the duration of the night listening to mellow music and meeting some wonderful locals, a lady called Jill, Luan and her husband Radin.
A few tigers and alot of tequlla cockails later they took us to the famous tammis bar which is run by a canadian women called tammi funnily enough who came here many moons ago 12 to be precise and has never looked back , were thinking about doing the same lol, luan and raden took us for dinner and half way through i thought a leaf had fallen in my hair and no it moved and i threw it on the table!I dont no if it was the tequilas or me being in the company of new freinds or the stray cats straddeled around my feet that stopped me from screaming and kicking haha, it was biggest ever cockroach, yuk!!! when we arrived back at ghecko there were 3 guess what ghechos in our room but thankfully our freinds have a brood of them so we left them too it and got too sleep :)
Weve been here four days now in langkawi and can safely say were loving it! beach all day beach bars to watch the sunset and carrying on drinking to the bands throughout the night apart from finding one dead ghecho :( (who we gave him a funeral)and having crazy motor bike rides throughut paddy feilds at night which are home to lots and lots of buffalos we have literally just been sleeping sunbathing drinking ,sleeping, sunbathing ,drinking, eating some rice and lovely rotis lol we will update you when we decide to stop being so lazy and come back into the real world ha ha ooh langkawi langkawi langkawi dont think we'll ever leave!!!!
P.s andy decided to break the silver night camera our first night in langkawi :( so hardly any night photos :( but we wil put photos of everywhere up soon :) x
So the last four days and nights we have again just been chilling on the beach day and night relaxing and drinking plenty of beers ...:) but we finally decided we needed to start doing some stuff soooooooo......
Last night i went on a sunset cruise with luan and andy to a night market with her hubby raden the cruise was really cool free flow off alcahol barbeque was lovely had a great time with luan she is probably the one of the funiest ladies we both have ever met!!! basically got a bit drunk and stayed on with the staff after to party and i yes me decided id have a go at driving the speed boat home........dont think i really need to write anymore about that lets just say i got rugby tackled by the boys ha ha, we met up with andy and raden after for drinks at the usual little lylias ahh we need one of these at exmouth seafront or somewhere :) andy and raden filled us in on the night market and andy had some wierd roti chicken for me too try and it was not very nice to say the least! He ate lots of new foods though and raden got him to try everything he keeps pointing out certain things and i still cant believe he put them in his mouth! He was a bit gutted tho as he was looking forward to i quote " munching on some chicken feet" urghhhh thankfully he hasnt found any..........YET !
Today we went and rented a car well if you can actually call it that wait untill you see the photos they explain it all ha ha but actually quite dangerous if anything hit us we were informed we might as well be on a motorbike but oh well off we went in our rodney trotter type car/death trap/tin can stopped off at the petrol station where may i add a lady who worked there had to fill it up for us haha and head off to the langkawi cable cars we decided to take the scenic route ( it is all scenic ;) ) driving through the kampongs (villages) on the way and it was really cool stopping at beaches black sand etc etc and we stopped for a drink at the telega harbour having a lovely time untill andy pointed up showing me the cable cars and that was it lol when we got there the cablecars are in a place called oriental village a nice day out shops, fish feeding, pretty little buildings, geopark ,animal farm etc and yes i made andy do all of them before going up this thing!!!! Let me inform you the langkawi cable cars Base Station to Middle Station covers 1,700 meters in length and when you get to the Middle Station its 650m above sea yes that bit was fine ( like andy kept saying K.L tower is higher)untill we get on another cable car which goes up another 450m then you walk up the stairs from the Top Station and get to the two viewing platforms at the top of Gunung Machincang, the "climax of the trip" its won awards and everything but it just ended the trip for me and was so windy andy had to literally force me back down ( without causing a scene of course lol little children running around everywhere ) i thought i was the only wimp up there so we eventually got back to top deck and then there is the hanging bridge :(:(:( andy kept saying i was boring as i didnt go to the bridge which just hangs god knows how high so i kept my shaking feet firmly on the ground as i watched everyone come panting back up with shocking looks on the faces andy eventually appeared he said and i quote " s*** that was abit scary, the bridge was swinging with the wind, nobody was walking across it......but i did it was fine" so we jumped on the first cable car coming back around got to middle deck and a couple jumped in they hadnt' even gone up any further as they were both too scared as it was so windy too so we spoke all the way down to distract ourselfs from the view meanwhile i can tell andy is wanting to skydive out of the thing so was so happy to get back to base after we drove in search for a beer and stopped in a shack on the side of the road and had a coconut juice not a beer but so so...
We then went to a beach called Tanjun Rhu as its in the top 10 sunsets in the world we had forgotten our swim stuff and were gutted it was beautiful clear sea and in the end we couldnt resist joining in the fun and went in in our underwear never the less :) untill we saw a huge squid (we thought it was a jelly fish) and retired to the beach to wait for the sunset,we got a beer off the stall and when the sunset came hour or so later we both agreed it was beautiful and definatley deserved a place in the top ten in the world afterwards it got dark very quickly so we drove to kuah town(as we had so much petrol the lady in the shop definatley was having us on telling us so much we'd done half the island at this point and still on full) we drove around went to the jetty and then mcdonalds ..yes mcdonalds and andy loves it here they do double burgers yes even double big macs for like 2quid ...on our way home we nearly killed about 5 dogs running in our path and a buffalo and some chickens but luckily no one or thing was hurt andy is a pro at driving in these conditions ....or just rather lucky ha ha ...goooooooodnight :) x
Day 10 in Langkawi we still had the car so we took a trip to the wildlife park had some cool photos with some strange looking birds ...for free :) and did the usual feeding everything except andy was actually feeding the ostrich unlike anybody else and at many points the thing nearly took his arm :0 once wed finsihed feeding the monkeys etc we had to unfortuantley had to take the tin can back( thank god) were we played a few games of drafts and got ready for our sunset cruise in the night .....the cruise was amazing we saw the fish farm the pregnant maiden ( some rocks formed which look like a pregant lady lying down) the legend is that a heavily pregant lady whos husband got killed and she layed down with her hands on her bump cried so much she formed the lake and then she eventually gave birth to a boy whom turned into a white crocodile to protect her) and people actually swear there is a white crocodile and noone swims there! We drank lots of beer (skol) and gins had a lovely meal at met a very nice german couple... andy then sat in the net (which drags along the side of the boat) with a few other guys loving there lives having beers thrown to them while me and luan sat and pointed out the jellyfish going by lol we again stayed on the boat after everyone left and drank with the crew who are all lovely and very good at what they do Jan the captain Ron and Yik the chefs and whole entertainment of the boat!!! Back on land (and no i didnt drive the speedboat this time) we met raden and went to a club called sunbar so cool we carried on drinking and dancing for most of the night saw quite a few ladyboys too ....
For our last night in langkawi we met up with luan and raden and sat drinking to the sunset in yes little lylias again were joined by some other travellers and a funny guy who lives in langkawi from surrey called oli then said our very sad goodbyes :( a teary walk home and andys roti in tomato later we arrived back to gheco to find not one but four of the BIGGEST cockroaches i had ever seen this was the first time andy had seen a cockroach and he was pretty freaked out haha but still he caught them all and evilly killed one very slowly..tortured i said and i dozed off but poor andy stayed up all night as he couldnt sleep thinking about cockroaches :( fast big bleeders!!!
Next stop krabbi thailand.... :):):)
