So we arrived after along flight from gatwick into singapore Changi airport! as soon As we got off the plane we went straight up to roof top bar and phwoar hot and humid or what!!! Andys first impressions of singapore weather ...like having a hot hairdryer constantly blowing in your face. We got straight on the mrt (underground) to our first stop lavender to the v hotel took us probably an hour to cross the road so so busy here the cars are all crazy!!!
When we reached our hotel to check in the very grumpy lady informed us that infact we hadn't paid online and that we needed to pay again now if we wanted the room. The hotel was heaving people everywhere with a masssive que behind us so reluctantley we paid again by card as didnt have that much cash so took just that bit longer and we could feel the annoyance mounting behind us haha anyways the room was ok, very small but a lovely floor to ceiling window so that was a plus .....
For our first night we decided to head into china town where a lovely old lady and gentleman blessed ours and probably the next towns ears :) no they were actually very good!We nosed around china town visited market stalls, temples sat outside a little shack shared a coconut drink (which andy actually asked which fruit it was before buying) but then coconuts we see are hairy so couldnt help but keep reminding him of that question and pointing out every coconut we saw for the rest of the night! more market stalls being offered tissues from little old ladies lip tattoing and more market stalls andy was brave and tried some new foods but i stuck too good old water maybe next time :) All in all china town was very beautiful place and the atmosphere is great and after a very long long day we headed back to the hotel for a suprisingly very good sleep on a very hard hard hard!!!(especially for what we paid!) bed x
The next day we woke up and went straight for a swim in the hotel pool then headed off to little india on the way stopped in a lovely buddhist temple still amazing how beautifull these places are and the attention to detail in everything everywhere! About ten minutes into little india we noticed a guy following us and still doing so half an hour on there was no subtlety about him we'd stop he'd stop use his phone etc lol eventually we lost him and went into the hustle and bustle of little indias markets cool or what! Lots of little stalls selling the usual and first time we seen durian a very apparently pungent fruit my grandad iinformed us of in his south east asia days way back then but were not quite brave enough to try it just yet!
After little india we stopped in another temple a few more shops and headed to clarkes quay and then boat quays of which we got lost! Then walked miles in the wrong direction to be pointd back exactley where we came from again and again lol both places were lovely and very pretty rows of bars resteraunts shops etc and we saw the first westeners wed seen since we have arrived minus two others!
After we walked like maniacs trying to cram everything in saw the raffles, war memorial sights the singapore merilion half lion half fish? The singapores version of london eye stopped at the arts festival great music atmosphere and cheap beer! plonked ourselfs on the harbour for a while sat and admired the view before hedading back to hotel which im thinking we maybe shouldv got taxi soo after around 2hours walking seeing a mouse the size of a cat hundreds of cats minus there tails walking through parks with lots of tramps and down dreary little steets we arrived home......... thankfully safe and intact maybe not sound due to we hadnt seen anyother person walking along the whole way back obviously wiser than us not wanting to walk around untill 4AM ha but all in all a good busy day and night off to sleep now as have to be up early for bus ride to kuala lumper our first stop over in malaysia :) woohooo x
