Today we decided that we'd visit a place called Kelly Tarltons Antarctic Adventure which is just outside the centre of Auckland. Its basically an Arctic version of a Sealife Centre which was created by a Kiwi called Kelly Tarlton.
As we don't have a car hired at the moment we walked to the Sky Tower in the morning and caught a free shuttle bus with a load of backpackers to Kelly Tarltons. It was basically a transit van done up with a model shark and penguins on but its free so we won't complain, except for the American's behind us muttering about how they had all been violently ill recently in Thailand!!
Anyway, Kelly Tarltons Antarctic Adventure wasn't too bad. They had a load of Penguins there which was really cool and we got a load of cool photos from there of them, as well as some giant stingrays which was good. The shark bit the photos didn't come out, and Andy wussed out and looked at the floor the whole time as he hates, seriously hates Sharks! Oh yeah, Andy put his arm in the arctic water test tank which is where they dare you to put your arm in water which is kept liquid even though its -5c! (it was dam cold!!!)
We got the local bus back to the city and found a shop called Wishbone which sold gluten free paella (another score for gf food in Auckland) and then in the evening went to a chinese/thai/asian restaurant called Monsoon Poon which also had a gluten free menu!! Good food, until Andy realised what he was eating (squid and something else fishy)!
