Oh dear, it's going really badly! Not our cycling exploits obviously but England's pathetic attempts to beat the minnows (ha ha) of Iceland. Much more relaxing typing this blog than watching football, country out of Europe, football team out of Europe? The omens are bad. Legs and bike happy, patriotic me very unhappy. AB.
Ok, yes, the footy's going pear shaped, but let's focus on the cycling ... Today's ride was a tough one ... the route from Royan to La Rochelle was hard to negotiate ... too many motorways and major roads to get around, which is why a projected 45 mile ride became 65 miles! - never trust Google Maps!!! Still, we have had an enjoyable day, good fayre and splendid company as ever. Tomorrow we head up the coast, with the promise of a more direct route and seaside scenery. JPS
Stupid football. Terrible night and rubbish food. Roll on breakfast. Nothing more to say. Back in to surfer territory tomorrow. We will wave to England as they fly home tomorrow. Starving now as well do may eat pannier emergency supplies

Well my fellow travellers are not happy. At least they do not have to worry about footie for the rest of the holiday. Doing this blog over breakfast whilst watching the rain through the window. Things should start to improve in a few days! DH
