Hello, eveyone reading this (not Rob and Matt, who think I'm still in Vietnam with Jaz!), thank YOU for continuing to read this.
This has been a mixed week but over-all it has defintiely been really very good.
Magnetic Island was really pretty and we spotted a genuine koala in a tree...definitely felt like we were in Australia. On our first day there we did a really long walk up some big hills to a fort used in then war, which was really cool, a bit of history and culture rolled into one. We also walked to an area close to our hostel where we were able to feed some wallabees....ahhh, the joys of tacky and cliched tourism :)
...Speaking of which, we did one of the coolest things EVER...we went to a wild-life sanctuary and held LOADS of cool things, we touched a turtle, fed a cuckatoo seeds out of our mouths, fed LOADS of birds (all at once) some weird bread/ honey/ water mixture...while they all flew down from the tree and attacked each-other for it!, we held lots of little reptiles (like small dragons and things), held a SNAKE, held a Koala (and got a photo...CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESY) and held a baby CROCODILE!!!! It was INSANELY cool...seriously...really, very good fun! I think if I was to do more travel I would really wnjoy doing some animal work...like one of those cheesy tour guides who walks people round the park, that would be SO AWESOME. :)
Whilst we were on the island we also finally did the cheesy tourist thing and just lay around the pool for a bit...until we got bored! :)
*This next bit is dedicated to the rents* It really is frustrating how parents always seem to be right...but must admit, I'm VERY glad we followed the advise of ma and pa this week......
Mum had told me she really wished she'd done the Great Barrier Reef when she was in Oz and Dad told me to "SPEND ALL [MY] MONEY" and to hire out an under-water camera for the day...and thus me and Harry did the Great Barrier Reef, hired out an under-water camera and SPENT ALL MY MONEY :)
It was really lucky actually, me and Harry only signed up to snorkel but when we got on the boat we were told we'd already paid for a dive (as it's included within the original price), so we thought "HELLLLLLLLLLLS YEAH" :) so we got to do some snorkelling in 2 seperate locations which was AMAZING and we did one dive and loved it SO (*note to Oli. G...notice the capitalised 'SO' just for you, haha*) much that we booked on to do a second dive and SPENT ALL MY MONEY but it was so unbelievably worth it because
1. diving is probably my favourite thing I've done in Oz...I REALLY REALLY loved it
2. WE SAW A TURTLE an it swam REALLY close to me, so close that I had to frantically swim a way becuase we were told that under no circumstances were we alllowed to touch one!
3. We felt like real professional under-water photographers, haha.
So, yes, BIG appreciation for the parents. Thanks a lot, Chaps. Make sure I follow your advice more often.
In other news, we watched 'Toy Story 3' in Cairns and it was an A.MA.ZING. film...everyone watch it!
Now we're in NZ...we're staying with some of Mum's friends who are all REALLY cool, really funny people, so me and Harry are VERY happy currently. This may also be due to the fact that we've eaten REAL food and slept in the COMFIEST of beds!
We did a really nice walk today and tomorrow we're going to climb a volcano, the weather has been BRILLIANT today, literally so sunny and warm but everyone tells us that this is really scarily unusual and it probably won't last...but we are enjoying it while it does! :):)
I can tell we're going to like it here. Really don't like the fact that I only have just over 4 weeks left (as excited as I am for coming home), really going to miss traveling....but still a while yet.
Have a good day all :)
