Another day another ruble.
Went to St. Isaac's cathedral today. Third largest dome in the world. Two hundred pounds of gold. Took 48 years. Architect died upon completion. What's the moral there, don't start anything you intend to finish?
Up the two hundred or so steps to the roof. Cold today. Even colder at the top. The exit out the cathedral is at the back of the building. So one has to walk around this baby to get in again. Same if you enter the colonnade to go to the roof first.
Then I checked out hydrofoil prices for the Peterhof. The hydrofoil is cheaper than the slower ship. Lunch was ten bucks. Coffee, a couple goes later was five. And it was a chain. Suffice it to say I don't get it.
Went watch shopping. Found a touristy flea market - old Russian watches are expensive. Thought maybe I could find he Russian equivalent of a CVS and buy the Russian equivalent of a timex. No luck.
And now my reading glasses have gone into hiding. I have a spare. Don't worry. But where's my rei backpack?!
Tomorrow the Hermitage.
