WOWzers!! OK.. where to start... I think ill only be writing a quick journal now as:
A)I dont have time because i have to teach tomorrow (its past middnight now)
B)The journal will be too big if I include everything since the Nice journal!
SO! After Nice, i headed off to Baiardo, a VERY small village (230 people) 1 hour north of San Remo (the town that I learnt how to teach at). On the train ride from Nice, i met two guys from the Gold Coast!! and they study at Bond! So that was crazy, we talked about all the people that we know in common, where it was really strange with a few of our mutual friends... So after the train, waited 3 hours for the bus (no-one goes to Baiardo so only a couple buses all day..) and made my way up a verryyy narrow and sketchy ride up to Baiardo, which is 900 meters high, so even though I had very nice days, it was freezing up there! It was a veryyy old village, the rooms were I stayed at are kept for teachers on break, so i met a group of teachers when i arrived. Only being there two nights, ofcourse we all went out both (as all there is to do in Baiardo is to drink, sleep, relax, check out the stars and meet everybody in town... really nice actually.. First night I met all the 'big-shots' of the town, had all the famous italian drinks and was a really good night. first full day was very sleepy..woken up by the bell tower at 7, but quickly fell back asleep. Managed to do my first laundry successfully!! WOOP! and then watched the sun go down, it was absolutely amazingggg, went photo-happy on that. On the second night, there was a traditional italian dancing festival (I may put up a video later on, and noooo its not me dancing, they were too good for me). That was ok, very quiet and traditional. So just mingled, drank and chilled!
So, after Baiardo, headed down to San Remo!! The bus trip down was a bit of a downer, felt really sick... wasnt sure if it was some weird food I ate in Baiardo or the nerves of having to teach kids soon.. its a mystery!!! But any way, this is the town where I learnt how to be a teacher for nearly a week! I arrived to my hotel in the morning, so I was one of the first. The hotel was pretty nice; food layed out for me, pretty decent size, internet but it didnt work (stingy). Had a nap to try and feel better, and then headed off to the beach to kill some time as I hadnt met my room-mate yet. The water was FREEZING! and it wasnt too nice, but meh it was a beach so i was happy. Headed back and BAM! my roommate was there. Really cool guy from england, had a lot in common which was good. After meeting and greeting, there was an arranged night out with all the teachers (over 80 in total) so headed out for our first night in San Remo!
Managed to meet a decent amount of people from the teachers-course. 'Everyone' was friendly and we all managed to get along really well! Met most of the guys, which there was about 10 of us... out of 80 people... so if your good at math, thats a 7:1 girl to guy ratio... So yes we were all discussing how happy we were with that haha (any of the girls from orientation reading this, dont judge us haha) Ended up hanging out at a few bars, drinking more then i expected (as we were warned not to be hungover for our first day on the job... but meh..) and then stumbling back to our hotels to rest up for our first day of learning how to be a teacher!!!
I think ill leave it there as its getting late anddd im only about half way through a very rushed blog... Hope that fills you in for the time-being!!!
To be continued.....
