Today we experienced the famous Shinkazen (Bullet Train) from Tokyo to Kyoto. The shinkazen is part of the Japan Rail service also known as JR. We purchased a 21 day JRPASS back home. There was mistake with mine so the one way ride from Tokyo to Kyoto costed me around $160 FML. The train ride was impressive, it took us 2 hours to get to Kyoto.
Kyoto is a beautiful, it is both a traditional and modern city. We are staying in a ryokan during our time in Kyoto. A ryokan is a Japanese traditional house, you sleep on a futon mattress, you need to change slipper for almost everywhere you go. There's a slipper for the toiler and a different one for the bathroom.
For dinner, we went to an awesome restaurant. After walking in asking for a table for 3. We found out that this was a traditional style restaurant. We had to take off our shoes and we were taken to small private booth. It was awesome! The food was amazing and the waitress wasn't just friendly and
nice, They were BEAUTIFUL!
we ate squid, some sorta pancake (okinoni-yaki) and cow tongue.
To end our traditional Japanese experience for the day, we dressed up in traditional kimono and acted like idiots lol.
Time for our noob of the day
Winner: Adrian
He was walking in the station, heading towards our platform when he momentarily became mesmerized by what he referrs to as his 'wife-to-be'. during this momentary lapse of concentration he and a pillar, about a meter in diamater, almost impossible to miss (key word: almost) became one. The thud of the collision was enough to send Nayth and myself into tears. This moment will be forever referred to as: Fatality.
