Thursday 15 October
It's nice to have a lie in morning. We get up and have breakfast in the kitchen and then come back to pack our things up and put them in storage.
First stop: the greyfriers graveyard to see bobby and jacks grave. It's a high cloud, grey day. Next stop the castle. We go as far as we can without a ticket and check out the gift store and info centre.
That done we second hand shop browse. There are 11 stores on the one street and a lot of them are lined up. There is good quality and variety. Especially in shoes! We head back to collect our bags via the supermarket then make our way to the bus stop to the airport. The cheapest option is also the longest. But we have time. The sun breaks through and the day is much less bleak. We arrive at the airport with about 3 hours before take off. We have some dip that won't make it through security so we cut open all the buns and spread it all out. It's allowed in that way! It's fun to ppl watch arriving flights. Through security I check out the book store while Malcolm writes his blog. They announce there is too much hand luggage and if you check in now you can get speedy boarding. Sounds good so we do so. Thankfully it's only about 1hr 15 flight. So close! The plane is poorly pressurised and Malcolm gets blocked ears. And my poor make up has popped it's screw on old and spread. Cleaning up waterproof make up is hard. It's dark and wet when we get out of the airport and we have to wait about 15min for the bus. We have to watch the stops carefully as it's all in Dutch. We figure which way we need to go and get to the camp ground. Our name is on reception door with our room. We find it, a cold cabin with 8 bunks. Will there be any more joining us? We head back to reception to check. The showers are token operated so that's out. I clean up the toilet bag. The hot water in the tap is free. We decide to have 3 blankets each. I'm still cold so we share a bed and blankets for most of the night.
