Sunday 18 October
Check out isn't till 12pm so it's great to have a relaxing morning. We can hear the rain on the roof. We book further accommodation. Vienna next weekend! We have to race through the countries. Otherwise we won't see as much. Russia and china stole a month of Europe time. We eat from the remains if our supplies the pack up and walk through the rain to the train station. The train ride passes so quick and we are back in Amsterdam wondering how to pass 30min before check in. Malcolm checks out tour buses. There is a pianist playing a public piano. Good too. Eventually we head out toward the hostel. It's a christian one this time! We pass many waffle houses. Once settled we head out again. There is a market to check out right near the hostel. There are some odd open urinals. I guess it's better than peeing in the street. Threading through the narrow streets of the red light district is interesting. Heaps of sex shops. Good range of dildos and vibrators it would seem. We buy some yum bread with cheese and plums. On the main street we buy some fries (which turn out to be not great) and Malcolm buys tour tickets. There is a marathon on so the route is cut significantly. But the guy extends it to the end of tomorrow. We ride the bus around and second time we get off for a diamond factory tour which is cool. We stop by Anne franks house. The line is very long to get it. So we check it out from the outside and watch a video on in the window. We decide just to walk back instead of bus and we stop in this cool little store selling great knick knacks. I find a gift for Malcolm. Just a little fun thing. The lights are coming on and look great. There is a mini amusement park on the main street. We check out a cheese museum and then head back to the hostel. There is a great vibe here. I have a shower and head to bed. Malcolm heads back out to check things out. We are in different rooms in this hostel. I just hope the sleep is good.
