Hi everyone
Hope you are all well! Thanks for checking the blog again!
So a lot has changed since our last blog post. We went on a 5 day trip of the Margaret River region in the South West corner (see photos). This included a Wine Tour in which we visited 4 winerys, a brewery and a chocolate and cheese factory (with free samples!). We also drove to the towns Walpole, Albany and Pemberton. One highlight was a trip to the Valley of the Giants where the trees stand at 40 metres high and a treetop walk takes you above and alongside the canopies.
BUT...on the way back to Margaret River on the second to last day, Percy (our car) died! It started making clunking noises and then we couldn't drive it without it jerking and struggling. We managed to make it back to Margaret River and took it to a mechanic. He told us that the gear box had broken and it would take a lot of time to find the correct part and be very expensive to fix. So we decided to sell it to him for $100 and got the bus back to Perth car-less!!
So we have been living back in our house for 2 weeks without any transport and getting the bus into the City most days as that is the only thing we can easily do. But as a result, and as we caught the "travelling bug" in Margaret River, we have decided to go travelling!
On Thursday we have booked a tour (hop on hop off bus) to take us to Broome, much further up the Western coast. We will stop at all the places of interest along the way, such as National Parks, beaches, bays, and it also includes activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, canoeing and feeding wild dolphins at Monkey Mia. So it sounds amazing!
And we have also booked a tour for May to take us on the next leg of our journey from Broome to Darwin in the North. This is a 9 day 4WD tour which takes us through the Kimberley National Park which is apparently a place every Australian wants to visit in their lifetime. This trip includes camping, and one night there are NO facilities, so Amy is a bit apprehensive! No hair straighteners in sight here!!
Then we will get the train to Alice Springs in the centre of Australia and do a tour of Ayers Rock and that area for 3 days. We will then fly to Brisbane on the East for a much needed 3 week holiday with Amy's parents! After this with our remaining money we will do the East coast.
So that's the current situation and will blog to keep you updated whenever we can!
Hope to hear from you all soon!
