Mooloolaba
G'day! So were half way through the beautiful east coast of Australia, it's been amazing so far and we've enjoyed every moment (Almost). After a short stay in Brisbane we hit Mooloolaba, a quiet place but the hostel we stayed at, you guessed it - Mooloolaba Backpackers, the only reason we stayed here was because Amy applied for a job as a nanny here has she heard back from the employer with a positive email (Getting Amy's hopes up) so we thought we'd check out the hostel, Well - s*** hole springs to mind, sorry for my French Dave and Sue! The kitchen isn't fit for a mouse, The bunk beds - let's hope you don't get the top bunk as you need to climb up it because there is no ladders or steps to get up to it (sounds easy but not when your drunk!). We tried renting Bikes, but they all had flat tires and wheels missing, so we tried renting Kayaks - They didn't know where they were. Ok so finally Tom rented a surf board (For free) to try and catch some waves, carrying the bloody surf board for about a mile to the beach to find out that the sea was as calm as a sleeping kangaroo, GUTTED! Instead we sunbathed for a little while before the clouds hit (3 weeks of scorching sun, the day we sunbath it gets cloudy! But didn't rain might I add).
That night there was an open mic night which was good, we played pool and table tennis - Amy wants to add that she beat me at table tennis (Cough I let her cough). We thought we would be more of backpacker's last night by buying GOON! A very cheap, cheap wine/rose. 5 liters for 12 dollars can't be bad (Apart from the taste). A crate of Tooheys is like 50 bucks so no beer for Tom, the goon gives a good kick though! But I had to take it easy last night as Amy saw a sign at the hostel saying "4 GUYS NEEDED TO UNLOAD FISHING TRAILER 3-4 HOURS!" So after Amy saying *you wouldn't do that* I asked them and I got paid 70 bucks cash, easy I thought: / ouch I was wrong. 4 Hours of pure hard labour on a boat lifting boxes of fish 1,100 to be exact into a container, I had to be in minus 30 degrees, my nose was froze and all my hair was white. I felt sorry for myself BUT I'm now 70 bucks closer to my GUITAR! WOOP WOOP! Haha, I also treated myself to a Dominos! So Mooloolaba is a nice place, but we both wouldn't want to live here, there was a skate park down the road which I went to and a nice beach, apart from that, that's all really. So we head to Noosa today and we've heard some really good/positive things about the place so we are both looking forward to that. Weare hoping to find work there and maybe stay there for a few months, but what will be will be.
So that's a short update to our travels and hope you enjoyed it. Miss and love you all.
Ciao for now. Tom and Amy xxxxx
