G'Day from Brizzy!
After hauling Tom's rucksack and my case (yes I gave in and made a small purchase on a suitcase) up Roma Street, Brisbane; we arrived at 'Chill' backpacker's hostel. We were chuffed to be the only ones in our 4 bed and thought we had got lucky til 2 Irish men joined us. Tom had a nap and I went for a little mooch around the hostel and as I entered reception I saw the 3 girls we had roomed with from Sydney! This was a nice surprise as we had got on well with them. We spent the evening with them and went to a good club/bar called 'Victory' that had a live band room, club room, snooker room, and karaoke room. It was nice to catch up with the girls as they were leaving early the next morning. Mom and Dad you've already heard my rant but for the rest of you, this has just assured us that we're sick of living in joint dorms. They decided to go out clubbing at 2 and then come in at 8 in the morning; sleep through their noisy alarm which I had to turn off and then sleep all day with the light off; very welcoming. Haha. We spent the morning looking round Brisbane town which was quite busy and there are lots of things to do however everything comes at a price and none of the tours interested us enough to pay out for and all the good activities we have already done so we went where we like best- the cinema J I was very disappointed second time round to discover it is all over Australia that they are not big on sugar popcorn. Was not impressed! So to round off our stay in Brisbane we spent the evening at the hostel feeling a bit lost with what to do as the 'cinema' room was occupied with rugby. I (Amy) cooked for the first time a sweet and sour meal and we spent time googling our next destination (Mooloolaba) and looking for jobs in Noosa. We are really looking forward to being near the beach again and we definitely prefer the small busy towns as oppose to the major cities. The money side of things is not going too well and we've gone through 8,000 since we started our travels, hence why we are urgently looking for work
We are still really enjoying seeing the world and experiencing different things and we can say that it is definitely a more positive way of life here, the people are friendlier, the weather is warmer, and everywhere is cleaner. It IS expensive but then people earn a lot more so as soon as we are earning we'll be laughing J
Much love from down under J
