So after spending another night in rainbow after Fraser, we got the grey hound north to Emu Park, a suburb (I think) not far from Rockhampton. We checked into a really nice resort that had a pool and we luckily bagged our own room for the same price as a dorm. We have really learnt to appreciate the simple things in life. Things such as, a nice shower, soft toilet paper, a stainless duvet cover, an oven in the kitchen, and most of all, room-mates that wash! Our dinner consisted of scrambled egg, a toastie (for the second time that day) and spaghetti. (Wendy and sue we sure are missing your cooking). After a lovely lay in following an evening off some good junk TV we headed on a trip to a crocodile farm. I was very excited about the talk of being able to hold a crocodile at the end of the tour; Tom was a little more reserved about this idea. We were shown round the farm and taught a lot about crocodiles and things, we watched the crocs being fed and then much to my excitement we got to hold a baby salt water croc; very cute. The restaurant there sold crocodile meat and skin; we found this a bit ironic as the tour guide rambled on for half an hour about how they are all about preserving the great animal. Ok?
Our time at Emu Park was a stop- over before continuing onto Keppel Island, off from the land. Because of this we needed to stock up on food as the island had nothing. A dreaded trip to Coles to get a few last minute bits turned into a 2 hour stressful marathon that left us 170 dollars poorer. Let's just say tom and I have very different ideas about what's practical, necessary, and tasty to buy from a supermarket. The shop finished with a snivel from me as Tom produced a microwavable roast packet meal that was meant to be dinner. Now if anyone knows me then they'll know that I get a little grumpy when I'm hungry. I hadn't eaten since 11:30 that morning and it was now 7:00 pm. A packet meal was just not appealing to me. Despite this, Tom managed to turn it into a nice meal for us both and let me watch TV while he worked away in the kitchen. Ended the day with a bit more junk TV and sorting our iPods out as the following morning we leave for the island.
Thinking of you all and love you muchly,
Hugs, Amy and Tom xXx
