We've just arrived in Ho Chi Minh after a very busy two weeks in Cambodia. We've visited lots of temples and ruins and done lots of shopping in between! Our leader, Kakada, took us to an orphanage the other week where the children performed a traditional Khymer dance, and we chatted to them afterwards - they were so cute and they loved getting their pictures taken with us.
He also took us to a school that he had set up for street kids who wanted to learn English. Me and Freyja went into a class of 13-14 year olds and taught for a couple of hours, which was lots of fun. It was also really embaressing though, they made us dance and sing for them, which they found highly amusing!
We also went on a really nice (but scary!) bike ride which went over a bamboo bridge and went to the beach for a couple of days, where it was really nice to relax after a lot of travelling.
In the capital, Pnom Pen, we visited the S21 detention centre where Pol Pot's soldiers tortured their prisoners and we then went to the killing fields where they were killed. It was pretty gruesome but also really interesting. (And,randomly, we saw Stephen Merchent when we were there....it was very bizarre!)
We arrived in Vietnam yesterday, the people don't really seem as friendly as in Cambodia and Freyja got her purse stolen last night, but hopefully we'll see a nicer side to it in the next few days. Sorry it's been a bit short, don't really have much time to go on the internet, we're about to meet our new group leader for the Vietnam section of the trip.
Hope you're all ok xxx
