Hi,
Have been really busy since I last wrote a blog at the start of our Vietnam trip, but have got a bit of time on my hands now so will try my best to update you on everything I've been up to....
When we were in HCM City, we visited the Cu Chi Tunnels, a network of tunnels which the Vietnamese people built to hide from the Americans. We even went down in one, which had been widened four times in order to fit 'Western People' in them, and it was still unbeliveably cramped inside! We also went to some really interesting War Museums (even if they were slightly biased) which showed some pretty grotesque pictures and we went to an American war bunker.
In Nha Trang, we stayed by the beach for a couple of days, which was really nice and on the last day we went to a mudbath, which was lots of fun! After that we went to a friendly little town called Hoi An which is famous for it's tailoring, and I got a posh dress made for about ten quid, which I was quite pleased with!
We then visited this ancient town called Hue, where we went on a motorbike tour of the surrounding countryside, which was really beautiful. We all got our fortune told by this crazy old woman on a bridge- she said that mum and dad are going to marry me off when I'm 25 to a wealthy man who I don't actually love. And I'm going to have 5 kids. So I'm hoping that she was just having a bad day or something...
We arrived in Sydney the other day, it is very cold and very wet (Winter has just started over here) but we're still managing to have lots of fun! When we first arrived, Jenny and David, the people who we are staying with, took us sailing on their boat around Sydney Harbour, which was lots of fun and a great way to see the sights.
We then to the Sydney Aquarium yesterday and saw lots of interesting fish and got very close to some sharks. Afterwards we went to a LINDT CHOCOLATE CAFE.....it was amazing!! (If you haven't already guessed, everything on the menu is made out of Lindt chocolate - really wish we had one in Sheffield!)
Today we had a quick look around the Opera house, and we may go to see something there tommorrow night if possible. We also did a bit of shopping - all their Summer clothes are on sale over here so it's quite good for us! :-) We had a walk around the Botanical Gardens too, which looked like they would look really nice in the Summer but were not so great in the pouring rain.
The plan is to travel up to Byron Bay within the next couple of days, where hopefully the weather should start getting better.
