Annie saw her first opera last night, La Triviata, at Teatro Communale,.a beautiful opera house in Florence. It was incrediable and Annie wore the dress that her Granny and I picked out at Finder's Keepers. She looked lovely in her dress and her bun adorned with two hairpins that I gave her for her first opera -now keepsakes to remember his magical evening. By accident, I chose great tickets!!! La Triviata is G. Verdi music and it was first on stage in Venice. Impressive was the size of the opera house and the beautiful voices! To be truthful, I was most impressed with the air conditioner- I was ready to sleep there!! There were two surprising things that happened. First, before the conductor arrived, the musicians stood in silence, as did the audience, for a good 4 minutes and then the orchestra stomped their feet for a while. Secondly, after the second act, the curtains closed and reopened with all the actors, around 100, with black duct tape over their mouths-protesting lack of money for opera. It was a memorable evening and annie had her next to last lesson today with Nicoletta. So sad. I asked her if it was all worth coming so far. She said she couldn't believe how much she had learned in a short while, but she could not even imagine where she would be if she had another month. Lovely thought and wish it was possible, budget .She says she feels like Italy too is her home. Likewise for me,I have been to Florence at least 12 timesand I see something new each time. However, my air conditioner is at home. We have been melting! Love to all Robin and annie
