I'm finally reunited with an old mission beach buddy :-)
I got to Melbourne yesterday afternoon and rang Tammi up straight away to arrange to meet. Luckily, she was down the street at a bar so I met up with her and her three friends Scott, Robin and Jerome. They were at a really nice pub which is under a bridge right on the river in the middle of Melbourne, was really nice although Melbourne lived up to its reputation and rained a lot!!
Me and Tammi caught up with a few drinks then we all got a taxi back to Scott's hotel as it would be cheaper to drink there and was really raining now.
We ended up ordering pizza, having like one drink then all deciding we were knackered and headed to our separate hostels.
Today.... Is the day I get to visit Ramsay Street and the neighbours set YAY!!!!
I got up at 7 as we had to meet at 8:20 and I had no idea where the place was but thought it was on the same road about 15mins away. So I got dressed, went out the hostel, turned right to see which direction I was heading then realised that two doors down was in fact the neighbours head office where we were told to meet!!! Oh!!!!
So I was pretty early, but went in and ended up talking to two girls from Birmingham who have just arrived to do a tour on the east coast. One of them was a hugeeeee neighbours fan and still watched it so I asked her to update me on the last ten years I'd missed, she did her best.
Then the bus pulled up, so we all got on and our guide Jerry, I think, introduced himself and told us what today would include. He was northern Irish which was very strange but he's been doing the job a long time and was REALLY funny while at the same time telling us facts about the show.
After about 45 mins, we turned into Pin Oak Court which is used as Ramsay street. Because, if you didn't know the outside of the houses are real peoples houses who get compensated by the show for people like us turning up and for the fact they use the outside of their house to film. There's 24 hr security down the street because they've had people walk straight into the houses and get naked on their roofs and all sorts of crazy s***!!!
Anyway, the street is tiny!!! It's literally 6houses and that's it, they're actually numbered 1to6 but on the show there numbered 22 to 32, I think. Anyway, we were given Ramsay St signs to pose with and were allowed to stand outside the houses but not on the property apart from one house, the one that the scullys lived at, where we were allowed down the driveway, exciting!!!
After that, we drove to the studio where they have the other exterior sets. So at this set we saw Lassiters lake (again super small) Lassiters complex with Harold's cafe, and then the mechanics, charlies bar, grease monkeys, the university set, the community centre.
It's crazy how there all so close to one another and how small everything is.
We took loads more pictures and then it was time to drive home while we watched an episode of neighbours!!
It was SUPER cheesy but was actually quite good fun.
When I got back, I met Tammi at the library where she was printing cv's and looking for jobs so I messed around on the Internet.
After, a few hours we went to get some food and then went to see Ted at a bean bag cinema, it was super comfy and the film was really good (even better for me as it was my 2nd time seeing it)
Then we said bye, and I crashed out in my bed as I'm up at 6 for my flight.
Melbourne's really nice and I wish I could have stayed here for longer but also looking forward to going back to Sydney.
