So today I left mission beach to head for Airlie beach :( :(
I'm really looking forward to Airlie beach and the whitsundays but I genuinely feel like I made good friends and a little crew at mission beach that I was genuinely sad to leave. Matt and heather run a ski chalet in the French alps so a reunion there is definitely needed. I'll miss you all :(
Anyway, my bus was a very long 9hour drive. They put two films on which killed sometime and I was able to catch up on writing this but apart from that it was very uneventful.
As we got nearer to Airlie beach, it obviously got darker and darker and when we were driving through nothing it was a darkness I don't think I've ever experienced, really freaky but really cool at the same time. I also quickly realised that I had no idea where my hostel was in relation to the bus stop. Good planning Alix!!
Luckily for me I saw it on the way into Airlie beach so just had to walk back from the bus stop. It was pitch black when I got to the bus stop but luckily it wasn't far to the hostel.
I'd booked into a really nice hostel, but the two girls in my room didn't seem interested in interacting so I just went to the hostel bar on my own and ordered some food. Then I sat down at a table; not long after, because I'm so lucky an old man came and sat with me, so I quickly moved and sat with two English girls. We had a couple of drinks, a typical backpacker chat and then laughed at all the drunk backpackers making fools of themselves and then I went to bed...
