I got to 1770 and was feeling a bit anxious as the hostel I was staying at had the best reviews but also has complaints about the manager. Anyway, the manager actually turned out to be really nice and really helpful and it was actually another guy that worked there who was awful but the hostel was nice and REALLY clean so it was fine!
I ended up in a room with Bella, a German girl from the bus I'd been on, and we arranged to meet at the library later on as they had free Internet.
The only major attractions they had in 1770 were cheap surf lessons and an activity called 'scooteroo' which includes riding on mini Harley Davidsons' around the town and then watchin the sunset. So, I decided rather than paying more by booking it through the hostel I'd walk to the actual scooteroo place; I asked someone at the hostel and they said it was quite a walk but told me which way to go.
It was quite a bit further than I thought and after about 15minutes of walking down a highway, I did start to wonder if I was going the right way. A guy pulled up in a car on the other side of the road and asked if I was okay, and then offered to give me a lift. As I got in his car, I was licked all over my face by his dog, you can imagine how much I loved that!!! Anyway, he dropped me at the scooter place. People here are really nice and so laid back that hitch hiking is a normal thing so don't be sat there freaking out mum, I'm still alive :-)
The guy who runs the scooter place was really nice and booked me on the surf and ride programme so I would have a surf lesson 2moro morning and then go out on the scooters the next afternoon, then he gave me a lift back into town.
The rest of the afternoon was pretty boring and just involved me going on the Internet, eating and chatting to Bella from the hostel. At tea time, we went to the shop and then I called home to wish my dad a Happy Birthday!!! Which was really nice to speak to everyone without stupid Skype freezing on me!!
That night, we just ate tea, read books and then slept as we were knackered from being on the bus the night before.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN DAD!!!!!
