After my fishing in Kaikoura I said bye to lovely Lucy and then spent the whole day being super lazy watching films and eating rubbish.
The day after, 20th August, I got the bus from Kaikoura back to Christchurch and met Alice who's lovely auntie and uncle said I could stay with them for my last few days in Christchurch.
We went to their house, and it's unreal how nice it felt to be in a proper house with sofas and carpets and just being round a family felt really nice. We cooked curry for tea and Alice's cousin, Charlie played some of his piano for me, then we watched some film on tv and went to bed.
The next day we drove to Sumner which is a really nice seaside town about 40mins from Christchurch and it was at this point I truly realised how much damage the earthquakes had done. There was a big cliff in Sumner where you could see into the sides of houses as the other half had slipped down the side of the cliff and these houses are miles from Christchurch... It was really sad to see the damage and later that night Alice's auntie told me how one of her friends husbands had actually died in Sumner trying to rescue people... this trip is really opening my eyes to how big this world is and how much we can be completely unaware of or so fortunate to not be a part of it.
After we'd walked round Sumner which was pretty but there wasn't much to do, we drove to Governor's bay where there's a quite famous chocolate shop. Of course we get there and.. Oh it's closed!! Typical! Instead we just walked around, had a coke at a pub and then drove back to Christchurch.
The next day we drove to Lincoln... Obviously! Just so I could take a picture and leave. Then we went to another really cute place called little river where they had an awesome art gallery with some amazing pieces although they were super out my budget.
And that was me pretty much done in Christchurch... Such a beautiful place that will probably not be the same for years and years to come unfortunately.
