Of course, we ended the tour as we began with getting up super early; packed our tents up and set off heading back towards Anchorage.
On the way back we stopped at a little town called Talkeetna, which is known for being a little quirky place and in particular because their mayor is a cat!! Yep, a cat: he's called Mr Stubbs and the village makes all the political decisions between them but then say Mr Stubbs did, at first it seems like a very odd concept but actually wouldn't it be nice if every town/village/city could get on well enough for them to make their own decisions. We went into the local shop where Mr Stubbs is known to 'hang out' and he was asleep under a shelf, some people took a few pictures and then a local said "you need to be very quiet because he's having a nap" they obviously take it veryyyy seriously! We walked round the village, bought a few things and then found a brewery so myself, Louise, Ross and Jamie all went for a drink.
After that, it was pretty much straight back to Anchorage; Brendan had changed my hostel for me so I could stay at the same one as everyone else and we all showered and got ready for our last night together.
We ended up going to Humpy's to eat and in the end we ended up not leaving there for the rest of the night, some of us ordered cocktails and I tried an Alaskan Iced Tea which is the same as a long island tea but instead of coke it's topped up with that blue stuff so it's pure alcohol!!
What followed was lots of beer, cider, me buying 4 of us jäger bombs which cost $40 (whoops, they are not that much in England) lots of laughing and everyone feeling very drunk.
People all left at different times, with Ross and Laura leaving to catch flights home, other people just going back to the hostel early and then myself and Jamie ended up leaving a bit earlier as I think we got drunk too quickly haha.
We stayed up at the hostel talking for a bit and then both passed out....
