Hello everyone.
Just giving you an update on my current status in New Zealand. Again sorry its been a while! It is nearly the end of April, my last day of work for Real Journeys is tomorrow. I cannot hardly believe it has been 8 months. It has gone so fast, I am certainly in need of a break and cannot wait to move back to Queenstown. I still plan to do some travelling around New Zealand South Island in May i.e. visit the glaciers and Mt Cook etc. We have had alot, I mean hundreds of mm of rain in the last two weeks in Fiordland. The milford road has been closed at few times and many of the roads have been closed due to flooding and washouts. Part of the road between here and Manapouri washed away completely. Lake Te Anau is almost flooding part of the building at the lakefront office, the Glowworm caves have been flooded and the wharf is underwater. It is quite incredible to think that we didn't have any rain for weeks and weeks early in the year which for Fiordland is unheard of and now Queenstown is on flood alert!
Yesterday I had a interview with NZSKI for a front line role with them for winter. The interview went well but you can never really tell! I find out next Wednesday weather I have been successful in getting a role for winter with them! If I get the role I will be starting on the 1st of June. I have also applied for a similar role with Kiwi Discovery for the winter season. I am expecting to hear about a possible interview at the start of May. This week I also moved into 'Loft room' accommodation at Reavers Lodge in Queenstown for the winter (http://www.reavers.co.nz/), I am living with a friend called Derek (Del boy, South Africa etc). The accommodation is awesome and we have got a really good rate. It was certainly a good find by SA! I have already taken most of my stuff over to Queenstown, the rest of my gear I will take with me when I move up there on Saturday. Thanks for the winter gear parents!
I just wish winter would hurry up, I am really ready for the change to be truthful, working for Real Journeys has been great but Queenstown is really were I want to be! I also have to get in some sort of shape for winter, living in Te Anau has made me lazy at times lol! A few weeks skiing should help with that though. I am just looking forward to settling back into life in Queenstown, finding a job and skiing as much as I can!
Hope everyone is having a good 2010.
