Hello people
It's been a while since my last blog so i thought i better update you all on what i have been up to over the last month or so. Autumn has now arrived in New Zealand, winter is approaching, and I just wish it would hurry up lol! I am still working in Fiordland (Te Anau) for Real Journeys. At the end of April I finish working for Real Journeys and I plan to move back to Queenstown for the winter.
Currently i am on the job hunt for winter work, I have applied to work in the ski for fields for NZ SKI who own two ski areas near Queenstown (Coronet Peak and The Remarkables). Last week I had a meeting with the head of HR of NZ SKI about possible work. I was referred by Real Journeys to meet Kevin Sharpe in Queenstown, the meeting went really well. I am expecting to hear in the next few weeks about an interview and then hopefully a job offer! I have also applied for a few other roles in Queenstown and have had no luck so far but i know these things take time and hopefully something will come my way!
Before i finish with Real Journeys i plan to do the overnight cruises on Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound. Also i will be going canyoning and looking at going white water rafting again! But really i just cannot wait to get my skis on! I have been looking into buying some ski equipment, i plan to buy some decent boots and a second hand set of skis. From what i have found ski stuff in New Zealand is not cheap, even compared to Europe. I guess is does have along way to come!
At the moment top priority is finding work and accommodation for the winter. I know i just have to be patient but it's not easy when i can't plan anything like accommodation or some traveling in May until i know about work! I'm looking at having a bit of a break in May and seeing a bit of New Zealand if all goes well! I plan to stay until at least the end of winter in NZ but i am considering staying longer, i love the place, especially Queenstown! We will see what happens but my Visa is up middle of September so will have to see what i can do about that! I hope that everyone is looking forward to summer in the UK as much as i am looking forward to winter. Speak soon, see u sometime.
