After 3 nights in Buzios we went to Arriaial do Cabo. Only an hour from Buzios but immediately a different vibe. It felt like the most local place we have been to.
Arriving at the Hostel Books Rehab, we thought it was going to be terrible. The WiFi wasn't working (first world problems), our toilet was broken, the room wasn't ready and the guy running it wasn't so switched on. Turns out they'd had a heavy night and unlike most hostels the two guys that run it Alex and Bruno get involved. This is actually what makes the hostel, it feels like you are at a friends house. By evening everything was fixed too so it was a win win.
On the night we all went out together, mostly Argentinians so there was a bit of Spanglish involved. After drinking in, learning how to make caprinahs (pretty straightforward) we hit the local town. There were a lot of short shorts and tight vests (on men and women). We ended up dancing to a live Brazilian Blues band in their 50s who were rocking it out (sounds interesting but they were really good!) we partied to the early hours.
This resulted in lazy beach day at the beautiful Praina de Forno the next day (see photo). Cue more women in thongs (all ages, all sizes) and budgie smugglers. No one loves to embrace body like Brazil! It actually started to rain while there but we stuck it out like true brits, the cold being refreshing!
Now we are on the coach again and 3 hours from Rio! After two weeks of beaching we are ready for the city...
