After a 25 hour coach journey we arrived in Buzios, an hour from Rio de Janeiro. Haven taken a good dose of sleeping tablets (the benefits of travelling with a pharmacist) we felt pretty refreshed the next day
Buzios has been described as the St Tropez of Brazil (a place loved by the iconic Bridget Bardot - it's mutual as there is a street named after her). However, rather than glitz and glamour it has more charm like Ile de Ray; Cobbled stones, harbours, boutiques and restaurants /bars with sunset views. The overall feel was not too touristy, more a holiday destination catering for the elite Brazilians and Argentinians. Time to flashpack again.
You are spoilt for choice for beaches in Buzios. We went sea kayaking at Ferradura beach to find sea turtles. 20 minutes in we thought we were out of luck until we rowed so fast we charged in to one. Given the turtles hard shell we are hoping it was lightly concussed at most... From that point we saw several turtles, pretty amazing and Rory got filming with the go pro. We now have some great videos of the bottom of the boat!
Next stop is just one hour away (we hope)
