Remind me to find some sort of prize for you when I get back!
Botanist's Daughter
Yes, that is definitely a Pohutukawa, and You are quite right - its endemic ( native) to NZ but it grows very happily in other places, even more so probably now its got a New Zealander ( and botanists' Oxford grand-daughter) to identify it and give it TLC....

Rachy: Maybe you could pretend you were aiming for a pun? Cos like one time you text me and told me you were going to a new country, Togo or Benin or somewhere, and how "exiting" that was. WHich kinda makes sense... You were exit-ing and it was exciting! Hehe. :) See you in Holland!! WOOHOO!!
Barbs: Hey luvly Barbs!! Beautiful Barbs, if we're going for the alliteration effect... Thanks for your comment! :) PS: When I was in Mexico, I heard Dido and thought of you. Dido reminds me of you.
Terrible Speller
I hope you realise what an impact your revellation of my bad spelling of 'exciting' has done. I am now highly distraught at discovering that I have spelt this word wrong all my life!

Hey awesome Alice! Thanks for your comment:-) Missing you as usual, will be fun when you get back. Good luck with the snow! xxxBarbs

They feed up a dog on a lot of corn and other maize-type crops, then roast it... mmm!
Kidding.
It's what we call a hot dog. And a hot dog is what we call an American hotdog.
Mum
What on earth is a 'corn dog'?
Alice
Hi y'all!
My mom says I'm starting to speak like an American but I never realized it; I thought I still kept my New Zealand flavor.
I'm off to eat dinner so I might have some PBJ sandwiches, or some corn dogs, or maybe some Graham crackers... And then maybe some hot cocoa and cookies for desert. And maybe some candy.
And I'll eat it all with silverware.
And then in the morning maybe I'll have some granola with golden raisins, and of course throw my trash in the trash can cos I'm a tidy Kiwi.
I'm not starting to speak like an American am I?
Mum
Wow, orphanage sounds pretty special. Kids are sometimes pretty exhausting, are they- mmm, so you've found out, huh?
NO sun here north of Nairobi, but lots of monkeys, two sorts, around the grounds of the place I'm staying, so perhaps that makes up for a tan.
I notice you are getting americanised , saying 'ocean' - oh golly gosh, what next? Think you better go and spend some tome in Oxford and remind yourself of how one speaks!!
love you anyway, mum x
