"Cool" is definitely the right word for it. Literally and not.
canada looks cool
Trollyherdsman
I dare you to use the word "Canadia" in lieu of "Canada" sometime while you are in Canada.

Giving a lecture - man, full on!! Way to go you! Did it alter your thoughts about beomcing an astronaut (deciding to become a professor instead)? :P

Sponge John
Only just caught up on about the last month of your blog. Seems like you're still having an awesome time, Alice. :)
Fairly busy here at the moment - no end of assignments and tests. One of my assessments in the third (!) week of the uni term was a lecture that I had to give, worth 30% of my grade. (Yeah, it's an odd course, arranged such that the course coordinator does the first two weeks of lecturers and then the students in the class do the research / write-up / presentation of the rest of the topics themselves. An interesting way to run things, for sure... you certainly 'learn how to learn' in a new kind of way.)
Also had numerous assignments as I mentioned, in varying degrees of difficulty and length. Sometimes frustrating for some courses, in fact... for most of my courses the 4-6% assignments will require a day or so of work, but for one particular course assignments of the same worth (5%) take about five times as much effort and time (no exaggeration). Ah well, it's all getting done (gradually), anyway. :)
Anyway, enough about study. Lots of other stuff has been going on lately... not sure if you heard about the Rev from anyone else (he's away from the hall for a few weeks recovering in Timaru, had a minor heart attack a few weeks ago - doing fine now though, chatted to him a few times and he seems eager and impatient to get back here).
Janice the - unique - cleaner left last Friday. Andrea, the office lady is retiring this coming Friday. Grace is acting in the Rev's position while he's away, she's doing a good job... we've had quite a few good yarns lately.
All the other RA's are doing fine as far as I know. Most of us are busy with studies (well, all of us really, though some more than others ;) ). Been trying out tightrope walking with Phil and some of the other RA's lately, which has been interesting. I'm not quite as much of a natural at it as Aaron or Charlotte, I think. ;)
(Yes, I'm just typing this stuff out randomly as it comes to my head, hence the probable lack of coherency.) ;)
We had a 'Heroes' dress-up dinner thing last Saturday, which the Exec arranged. Certainly something new and different, and it seemed to go well. I was dressed up as a Desperate Housewife apparently (not my organizing, Michael's [RA]), though I don't believe the resemblance was that striking. Probably didn't help that the makeshift wig was awful, although my blouse was quite nice if I do say so myself. (Okay, that last bit might have come across as kind of dodgy, I admit.) Afterwards there was a 'singstar' evening at which I initially was going to abstain from participating in, but ended up trying eventually (and actually surprised myself [and everyone else] by doing fairly well). Yes, random.
Anyway, I've spent too much time writing already and I'd better get to bed. Catch up more later.
See ya. :)
Alice
Ohmygoodness I am SO JEALOUS you got to swim with turtles!! No way!! Even if they did swim off after you splashed in, you were still in the same water as them! :P
Well, yes, I hate to admit it but we are into like day 6 or something of grey-white skies... Very unsual for San Diego weather.
What nanas we are, talking about the weather. Remember when we used to write letters to "grown-ups" and always talk about the weather? I remember this one time mum made me write a whole page and like, what else was I meant to write about...!
Not so good sleep? Are you sleeping on deck or down below? Personally I WAY prefer on deck, and it's nice and convenient if you need to use the "facilities" (i.e. the deck) in the middle of the night. BUt it's a pain trying to rig up the mozzie net so it keeps you completely covered without touching you! Have you been bitten much?
Please catch me a turtle and send it to me for lunch. Kidding, but do send me one to play with, I'm sure it'll enjoy the tropical (or not!) waters of California... :)
