Went to church this morning. Caught the sky-train to the nearest stop, got lost, then got a ride down the Soi with a Thai woman on her way there who noticed me, probably looking a little out-of-place or lost, while I was waiting for the van. I managed to locate my contacts - an elderly Kiwi missionary couple - amongst the throng of people coming and going between the services. Church was in English, but very international; the service kicked off with some groovy beats from an African worship team. "Thank You God for a place we can call home," the pastor prayed, and it really rang true with me. I was reminded that as Christians we have a "home" with our church whanau no matter where we are in the world.
Caught the skytrain to Mo Chit for the Bangkok Weekend Markets this afternoon. Nina warned me it'd be a bit of sensory overload, and she was right, what with stall-keepers calling out in Thai, buskers, Thai and Western music playing, the heat and humidity, stalls full of jewellery and brightly-coloured silks and cheap clothes and animals, crowded little alleys full of bustling people.... Full-on! Had a late lunch of kai yang - it's so hot you don't feel hungry, you really have to make yourself eat. Aroi ma!
Tomorrow I'm heading into Rahab, the ministry to prostitutes this Kiwi couple work with, then at night the team arrives and we'll catch a taxi up to Nakhon Sawan.
