Touchdown!
Seeing as it's 5:55 in the morning, NZ time, at the moment, I probably should be sleeping, but I think I'm just buzzing to be here. The flight was long - 11 hours - and I didn't manage to get much sleep, though I did make friends with the Sri Lankan sitting next to me and attempted to make friends with his little boy in the seat in front of me; Rach's little gift, a pack of games she'd created and random facts, helped keep me occupied too - and amused!
So I managed to avoid getting one of those notorious scammy taxi drivers, and even with his very limited English and my very limited Thai, we managed to find our way here with the help of a map and a bit of pointing! I'm staying in an all-girls dorm in the backpackers, on futon-like beds, and my American roomie, Nina, is proving to be the biggest blessing with all her know-how, on everything from whether you can drink the tap water - it's best not to, how to work the wireless - I'm using it now, how to use the power points - thanks to the adapter Rosie gave me, I think I'm sussed, the need to take toilet paper with you when you're out - thanks for that helpful tip too, Mum!
Praise God for getting me here safely; it's been a long day since leaving home at 4:30 Sat morning, over 24 hours ago. "... the LORD will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore." (Psalm 121:8 NIV)
