Alice's Travels
Ok, this time the picture actually is me!!
Not a lot has happened the last few days, we were getting pretty dispondent because we thought the weather was never going to be right for our jump. Consoled ourselves with a curry last night but not even that did the trick coz it was the worst Indian food I've ever had, blurgh.
Then today we rang the tandem skydive place to see how the weather was and they were on their way to collect us. Thats when the fear started and it didn't go away either.
Me and Vicki had to wait ages for our turn and watched 4 plane loads go up which was agonising. Finally it was our time to get into the jump suits and harnesses and I met my tandem jumper, Justin who was awesome and tried to settle my nerves. Then we were straight on the tiny plane and climbing 12,000 ft. Just as I was starting to relax the guy said it was nearly time, strapped us together and moved to the front of the bench.
It all happened so quick and all of a sudden I was kneeling right by the door, smiling to the camera and then the guy lauched us out the door into a flip in the air and we were just falling.
The freefall was unbelievable, Ã can't really remember it but at the same time I'll never forget it. But it was over so quickly and the parachute flew up and it felt like we'd stopped in the air and were just hanging there.
We glided down and the view was staggering. I even landed on my feet-obviously a pro, but felt like jelly as soon as I went to walk.
We've walked around town for the rest of the day with big smiles on our faces and I just want to tell everyone, IT WAS AMAZING!! You have to do one.
Its our last night in Taupo tonight so its back to bed and then on the way to River Valley.
Feeling unbelievable. Wicked.
