I'm now in malaysia having travelled yesterday up from Singapore. Me and Oppy did the journey ont he train using the KTMB network which claims to be the most modern and comfortable way to travel. we gott here in the afternoon on the hottest day so far and got tickets for about a tenner.
The train was OK but I was so tired and couldn't get comfortable in our 2nd class seats, I'd definately pay the extra next time. The journey took most of the day from 1 til 8 but we saw some stunning scenery on the way and got a real taste of Malaysia.
We got into KL station which is really impressive and took a cab own to Little India where we're staying. The area is really grotty and we were both giving each other funny looks in the taxi, there's loads of blind people around, lots of dirty looking shops and hundreds of mopeds. the hotel however is alright. there is lots of people miling around in the lobby but the room has twin double beds, TV, air con and ensuite bathroom so its pretty luxurious compared to dorm rooms.
We were starving when we arrived so headed straight out to chinatown to explore and eat. There's a good night market and we looked aroun, tempted to buy lots of crap but resisting (although I loved some of the handbags). we found a really busy Chinese restaurant and ate there but it was quite dirty and the food wasn't at all what we expected, except for the chicken satay skewers which were good grub.
Went back to chill out in our room and looking forward to doing KL tomorrow.
