Arrived in Prague and walked to our hostel. It is a studio apartment on the top floor of a building, just off Wenceslas Square, and it is by far the best place we have stayed. It is a palace. We have 2 sofas, 2 air cons (ironically we don't need them here), ensuite and kitchen, all to ourselves.
Went out this afternoon and did some stuff. Went to the old town square and walked around the Tyn Church and climbed the old town hall tower. Good views of the city at the top. We went for a walk on the other side of the river, up past the giant metronome and through some gardens, over the old castle moat boardwalk and across the Charles bridge. I did this walk 4 years ago, and it was nice to be able to remember it. Went for dinner at TGI Fridays, then back to the old town square, where we saw the astronomical clock hourly display.
Maybe it's just that Prague is familiar to me, but it is one of my favourite, if not my favourite place so far. Anna likes it here too. It is a cross between Budapest and Florence, Anna's 2 favourite places so far.
It turns out that our hostel is on the same road as where I stayed 4 years ago, so I was able to remember where the supermarket was, almost opposite us. Bought some cheap chocolate, and also some massive strawberries from the market earlier in the day.
