Nice fast train to Vienna today. Hostel was really close to the station and is normally a student accommodation block, so it's quite big and well equipped.
It's just off the main shopping street, which we walked all the way down to explore the city centre this afternoon. We got to the museum quarter and were going to do the Natural History Museum...closed on Tuesdays x(
We'll go there tomorrow instead. Walked around a bit, not really knowing what most things were, but we followed our map to the Hofburg palace, the Rathaus city hall, which had a massive screen outside for the film festival, and the Votiv Church, which was plastered in scaffolding. We walked all the way down to what we thought was the Danube river, but actually turned out to be the canal, which is grim. Exhausted from yet another walking day, we got the metro back to near the hostel and went to Aldi. Then it started to rain, the first since Paris. As long as it doesn't rain tomorrow, it's ok by us. It's not as hot here, which is a relief after the last couple of weeks.
Tomorrow we're finally being proper tourists and going on an open top bus around the city, as we're not entirely sure what most things are. Top of the list though are the Schonbrunn Palace, The Opera House and St Stephen's Cathdral.
