Today wasn't quite as enjoyable as it could have been.
We were supposed to go to Oxford for a while before departing to Swanage, but.....
It started with Trudy realising that she had lost her passport. Great.
So we frantically called all the places we could think of that it could have been handed in, but no luck. Step 2 involved cancelling the passport.
So we had to take a slight detour to London today, and visit the consulate.
We left around 11.30am, to London, and after a bit of getting lost, we got there around 2. Finding a tube to the city took about 20 minutes, as we thought driving would definitely take longer.
So we tubed it in, just me and Trudy, it was about a 20 minute ride, to a station, then we transferred, but ended up in a station called Temple. It was about a 1 minute walk to the Strand, which was a really nice street.
So inside the consulate, we didn't even get to talk to a real person, we had to use a phone, where we were told that Trud couldn't have the interview today because the office closed at 3.30pm...lazy Australians, anyway...so we got the forms and booked in an appointment, for Wednesday in the morning, cause we were going down to Dorset today, and even if we could do it tomorrow, we don't have accommodation in London....it doesn't matter, because it will definately be ready on Friday, so we can go to France on Sunday.
Just if your reading this Julia, everything is Okay! And is sorted. We got some passport photos this afternoon, and will make sure everything will work out.
SO......after getting the photos, the forms and some postcards from a souvenir shop, we got a couple of sandwiches and took the tube back to the car and drove to Swanage.
The traffic on the road was just incredible, the 3-4 lane motorway was just packed full of cars, but surprisingly every one was doing about 75-80 mph, which was good.
After about 2 and a bit hours, we got to the Sandbanks, a little area near the coast, nice scenery, a huge harbour, at Poole, 'Poole harbour' which is apparently the 2nd largest after Sydney harbour.
Anyway, we drove onto the ferry, to take us across the harbour, and then we drove to Lara's house, the place we are now staying.
The place is massive, 3 storeys, 5000 acres, horses, cows...the whole deal. Really close to the beach, and its all green country which is nice. Lots to see tomorow, which is good.
We had a really good dinner, with Verity, David, Trudy, Myself, Mervin, Lara, and Lara's Mum, all friends of Trudy/ her family.
Had a good time, and before long, it was late so we are now going to sleep.
Hopefully, we wont lose anything tomorrow.
