Now visiting Falmouth, Jamaica, Glistening Waters is a glowing lagoon on the north coast of Jamaica. This amazing creation is formed from the fresh water of the Martha Brae River which meets the salt-water ocean. The glow is formed from small microorganisms that produce a flash of light when touched, a natural phenomenon known as bioluminescence. Scientists and visitors worldwide are amazed by Jamaica's luminous lagoon being the brightest of all lagoons. To see the water light up around you, just dip your hand or foot in the water, and you may even see fish swimming around the blue flash. Once your boat is far out enough, you have the chance of swimming in these waters, which are really only three or four feet deep. Bringing a container or bottle is acceptable to cherish the glistening water after your tour is over. Plan well, as the glow looks best at nighttime, and is at its worst on rainy days. I went in the afternoon on a nice day and the glow was an outstanding sight for my family and I, as we did get in the water to swim around. The boat tour is safe, fun, about 45 minutes long, and is a long lasting experience for people of all ages. Jamaica, Indonesia, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico are the only places in the world where you can find the phenomenon of glistening waters.
