Featuring: Dad. Mum. Grandma. Grandpa. Sam. Amelia. Scott. Gabi and Brian. Campus security. Katie, and the supporting cast!
Pre-weekend Dinner Straight from the bus station I met dad/bob, sweet talked Stephanie at the restaurant to change our booking. Had some beer lessons and drank with 2 Coles and 2 Leitzes. We got on well. I say well because it only got better and friendlier from here. Golden valley brewery.
Food- Burrrgerrrr, clearly British pub inspired like the beers. Followed by traditional berry cobbler. Kindly treated by Grandma.
Sorority Brunch Tear inducing slideshow of the girls' (see photo) year with lovely breakfast pastries, coffee and fruit with yoghurt. Kindly treated by Lynette. Photos outside with the sunny golf course. Super wheels table chairs.
Airplanes Saw the Hercules / timber graveyard / spruce goose which never performed any use other than attract tourists. 3D rescue movie cool. Various planes and anecdotes from grandpa. Also with Sam/M and Bob, all veterans. Air, army and navy! Kindly treated by bob.
Fact- The floats of the plane consist of beach balls.
Bachelorette The churchy bit and an exciting prequel to the main event. They have their own man with a stick as in Lancaster. This one has a Möbius strip held by a hand which stands for something. I met Amelia half an hour before and we sat together for a giddy childish hour. Amelia hasn't told me she was in the theatre industry as I drowned out her presumably luscious voice with my gruff hymn tones.
Toasts After a feast of truffles, salsa, wine, oriental treats and nasty purple gunk the toasts started. The toasts ranged in focus but all got laughs based on jokes and connections but unfortunately noone mentioned to get champagne. Suffice to say when we saw all the glasses sitting waiting for sippers who would never come, we helped Gabi and Bryan the bartenders so they would have to throw less out. The pictures do a fair job do explaining the rest. The 5 of us (me, Lyn, bob, scott[bro] and Amelia) bonded exquisitely. And before departing for the bars each gained our own campus officer to chat with.
Then we didn't get to the bars due to a misunderstanding. My pink driving license adversely affected their ability to read dates. So we went for Mexican.
Food- quesadillas and nachos. My treat. (Eventually)
Graduation Hungover. Unsunprotected. Incredibly proud and excited. Huge outdoor ceremony with plenty of people we didn't recognise, except Lyn and the man with the stick. Previous Linfield graduates were asked to stand up at one point which gave a nice impression o the family history of the college. I like to think the Hockins will be able to do that some day at Lancaster.
Nibbles We strolled around the Linfield gardens meeting Lyn's friends and tutors; whilst snacking on more Linfield coloure nachos and cookies and veg. Broccoli and dip is the norm here... A lovely afternoon.
Bistro Dinner After a few more greetings and goodbyes we met the family at a bistro by a frog shop. Frog art unfortunately but still super funky and ultra expensive. I had most of a pizza. I know. Only MOST! But I took the last slice home and it turned out I had space for pudding; a chocolate thing and a cheesecake thing which we all shared! Most of us only had water for some reason. Kindly treated by Sam.
Cleaning/collapsing A couple of hours cleaning with mariah and oliver and parking before passing out to whose line is it anyway.
Driving! Wee wee wee all the way home.
One of the best weekends of this trip. Despite crying for most of it (allergy inspired).
