Man I am writing this from too far into May ... Must do my best but it was a blur anyway and I will try my best not to repeat myself but there is not chance it will be in order!!!
The first day in the city I met with the Thai girls and their footy team which is apparently the best in America or something, and i can believe it. They do all sorts including swimming from Alcatraz to fisherman's wharf and across Lake Tahoe. Mega! We had an awesome little barbecue and half of us moved on to a pub and had some fruity little cocktail jars and then back to a friends flat where we played liar dice, had pizza and whiskey tasted until the early hours of the morning. I found we were on the street adjoined to mine (Jones) so had a straightforward if wobbly walk home. We also had some great big time views of the city, first from the taxi cab and then from Julie and Nathan's roof! It felt like friends!
The party room soon became nicknamed the Alex room since I cleaned it 8 times in a row before they replaced the floor anyway. I can now be employed for party room cleaning, just call (415) PARTY-MESS. I'm sure mum and dad will have something to say... Brendan, Elise, Emma, Natasha and Mike were all really awesome to work with as we're the others as I gradually met them. Hostels are a great environment to work in since you may be cleaning but if people have questions you are also customer service, ie. chatting and networking is part of the job! Hahaha. I would live to find one to work in properly in England. I have recently been trying to spell Ingland phonetically. :S I just hope this is my brain getting ready to attempt to learn German when I return...
I wandered around the it's lots, apart from the hills it was pretty easy, my calfs are incredibly well stretched now and my toes are crammed! I found a little park next to the cathedral which I have talked about. I walked through Japan town which was ace and reminded me how I missed it, I never got round to going back for some Japanese food. But I'm sure I can find that somewhere else in the US.
I went shopping and bought bright blue lightweight trainers I wish I had has all along, new headphones, blue and swim shorts (finally) which are blue, red, orange, yellow and purple and have sparked a phenomenal number of remarks/compliments/conversations. Not least from a lovely lady at a set of traffic lights.
We (Neil and girlfirend from the room) went to see iron man 3 in the only cinema in the city which was fantastic. The trailers here are more like film summaries they are so long. I had my eyes shut and hummed to myself for the good adverts.
Kanga has summarised SF well for me:
"SF is one of those places people tell you you should like..."
"SF may just be too gay for you..."
But I have given it plenty time to sink in and I am way happy to move on. Itchy feet and all that. The best night was probably with Evan. The best day wandering the city finding little Japan town, the Castro and seeing the dock.
