Hey!
We are now in Brisbane, we arrived here a few days ago from Surfer's Paradise. Our hostel is really big with over 4 hundred rooms and the bathroom is nice and clean which is always a bonus! It has a club and bar underneath which is really cheap so thats good too, and we cant hear the music as we're on the fourth floor! On the first night we went to see Disturbia as it has been advertised lots here and we thought it looked good! We thought it was really funny! The next day we explored the city and found it to be nice. I prefer it to Sydney and Melbourne, although Melbourne does have a better nightlife! Maybe its because we have met less weirdos here! Then again a drunk woman did stroll into reception the other night and caused a big scene, but that seems to be the norm everywhere in Australia! We went to Mount Coot-tha which is a lookout point where you can see the whole of Brisbane, very picturesque.
The next day we went to the Steve Irwin Zoo in Beerwah which took 2 hours to get to. We got there just in time for the crocodile show which was performed by Terri, Steve Irwin's wife, and his daughter Bindi was on the front row! They were doing very dangerous things going up really close to the croc (Mossman) and feeding it . There were loads of crocodiles at this zoo and they were quite lively snapping about. We also saw more elephants, (a baby one called bimbo) and dingos. They had a lovely koala sanctuary with baby ones that looked so cute! I had my picture taken holding one called Jack, I will put it up on here later but this computer wont let us put photos up! Jack pooed on me! oops! oh well he was very cute so i forgave him! Alex was laughing and filming at the same time! That night (lastnight) we headed down to the club underneath the hostel which started off very much like Kingdom on a Monday with lots of pop tunes that are always good to dance to! We got very drunk as they served pints here! It was all full of backpackers so very chilled out with lots of random people boogying on the dance floor! Was a really good night, they played some Shakirrrra!
This morning we felt a bit groggy, but got ready to go to the city beach on the train! We were wondering what a man made beach would be like in a city and when we got there it was soo nice! Its the school holidays so loads of kids were messing about and it was like a huge holiday resort with a beach and little ocean pool! Perfect cure for a hangover! So we really enjoyed today as the atmosphere and scenery was amazing. You will find that there are so many cool little retreats just a fe minuites away from the cities in Australia. You can drive a half hour out of Sydney and end up in the outback.
Tomorrow is our last day before we catch a flight to Fiji on the night, so we are planning to go on a river cruise around Brisbane! This is our last journal from Australia, a bit sad as we have enjoyed it loads, and defintely want to come back to do more! When you next hear from us it will be in Fiji! Speak soon,
lots of love from Alex and Sammi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
