Hey everyone!

At the moment we are in Byron Bay but thought i would update what we did in Newcastle! After that night out we went to the beach just to relax for most of the day, there seems to be a lot of weird people hanging around and asking for money! then they verbally abuse you if you dont give them money! we went for tea on Beaumont Street, i ordered a pizza and alex ordered a thai chicken salad which we waited an hour and a half for and when they brought the salad it only had salad leaves in it so we got it for free which wasnt bad! the next day we went to the beach yet again but there wasnt much to do in newcastle and the town centre wasnt amazing, we only stayed three nights but that was definitely enough! we met a guy at our hostel from New Zealand. He was 45 years old and probably an alcoholic, he actually lived in the hostel and changed all the bed sheets so he could stay for free. He was sooooo funny, he just cracked us up the whole time! There were some really nice people at the hostel so that madfe up for the lack of things to do in newcastle. On the fourth day we had to wait for the overnight bus that would take us to Byron Bay! {IT was a long journey but i think i got a few hours sleep! We checked in to a really nice double room which wasa relief after staying in dorms! We got changed and went straight to the beach! The beach here is lovely, there is no wind so it was really hot and the sand is so white and soft! So the next day we hired some body boards and went out to the sea, it was soooo much fun, i had never done it before but i was a natural obviously! Even though it wasnt that breezy on the beach there was some really good waves and i was stood facing the beach when alex was like 'Sammy you're gonna get hit by a massive wave!' but somehow i just body boarded it all the way back to shore it was sooooo funny! At one point i went too far out and got proper cremed by a HUGE wave i felt like i was gonna drown! After that i left the sea to recover but Alex stayed out and did some more! I would defintely recommend body boarding! After that we decided to book a surfing lesson for the next day! That night we had a night out at a club called cheeky monkeys which was really good! There was loads of giveaway prizes and people were stripping on stage and doing dance competitions! Some people went a lot further than we expected, two girls stripped to just there knickers for a safari on Fraser Island, so we felt sorry for the one who lost! We also have a really funny picture of a guy in a thong! They were selling big jugs of tooheys for five dollars which is around 2 pounds so everyone was drunk! then we stumbled home to the hostel where we though it would be really funny to do some lunges in the street and time ourselves running round roundabouts! Alex founds a shopping trolley too which he had endless fun with! The next day we were kind of hungover but managed to get to our surfing lesson! We had a female instructor called bec and were in a group of 6 so we had some really goood personal tution! She was a very good teacher so we all got stood up on the boards pretty much straightaway and she pushed us on to the waves! there was a few when i fell in head first but it was ok it was just lots of fun. The current was really strong though so the hardest thing was carrying my board far into the sea to actually get near the waves, not the actual surfing! Also i gavbe alex some good tips which made him better so he said i should be an instructor! Also our instructor said i had really good balance ;) Alex was good too but hes not a beginner, cheating in the beginners lesson!!! After our break we had to go and catch the waves on our own! I got a really good one but alex got in the way so i had to jump off! I got two on my own, ALex got quite a lot but it was difficult as there were people in your way so you didnt dare go for them sometimes! We had an amzing time surfing but are aching today! Byron has abeen a lovely little town to visit but ver ybusy as its easter and theres a big festival on! Definitely come and stay here!
