As absolutely shattered from our long journey didnt do much on our 1st day. Sat down and have figured out our plan for Canada. Decided against the bus and train and booked a flight to Vancouver joing a Moose tour to see the Rocky mountains starting at Lake Louise then going onto Banff and Jasper.
Booked a trip to Niagra Falls as Alex's birthday then unexpectantly the fire alarm went off so we had to evacuate the Hostel. Turned out the tumble dryer had got clogged with dust and overheated setting off the alarm!
ALEX'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Ready for our trip to Niagra Falls. Set off with our fellow guests 2 Iranian girls, 2 Indians, a moody German a silent Japanese and a hilarious Chinese man! 1st stop was a service station for lunch. Quite relieved to get off as the bus had no suspension then the doors flew open at 80mph resulting in a 3 lane mad dash to the hard shoulder!!! Anyway had lunch and were waiting to get back on the bus when 2 guys in a pick up with a very nice motorbike on the back, drove in and just wouldnt stop staring! Then they reversed out and started chatting us up! Asked if we were from round here and that they'd been to York, YEAH RIGHT! Was so funny he was practically kerb crawling so now Kate and Alex are 'Ladies of the Lunchtime'!!Then stopped at a vineyard for some wine tasting. Kate wasnt too keen on the red or ice wine so Alex had double (well it was her birthday!!) Finally arrived at Niagra-AMAZING!
Went under and behind the falls-spectacular! Thousands of gallons of water thundering down above your head was unreal and even the sexy yellow rain coats added to the fun! Had a lovely meal for Alex's birthday overlooking the falls. After we were stood waiting for the illuminations when a very nice gent offered to take our photo. Got chatting and found out that he and his friends were BA pilots and cabin crew, told them about our trip and that we had flown with BA from Manchester to JFK. Only turns out he was our bloody pilot!!!!!! Quick run back to the bus where we endured 2 hours of Spanish guitar music! Got back to the Hostel some new roomies, Alex and Kate with 4 lads! One Canadian, one quiet Korean and a complete prat of an Ozzy!
Been up the CN Tower which was cool but quite expensive here so will probably be a quiet few days before flying to Vancouver on Saturday.
Stay tuned!
