Wayhey!!!!! Flew out from Manchester on Saturday morning after a very early start!! All went well except Alex's headphone socket was blocked and we had to double up on Kate's which also meant we had to watch the same thing but other than that no delays. Arrived at our basic but nice hostel (3 blocks down from Harlem!) and settled in fine. That night went out and mastered the subway, very impressed with ourselves! Headed to Times Square and had dinner at Hard Rock cafe. A little jet lagged so headed back for bed as absolutely shattered.
After a good nights sleep the next day we headed to Ground Zero but unfortunately it still looks like a building site as a memorial will not be completed until 2015. After a walk around and Kate's very expensive chicken wrap headed down to Battery Park to catch the ferry to Liberty and Ellis Island. On the boat there was a large lady in a Union Jack hoody and Kate said 'She's not English' and Alex said 'What made you think she was English??!!' DOOH! LOL. Had a tour round then headed back for dinner at the local Mexican where we were charged for 'free' nachos never mind we kept the change. Got back to our room to charge up Kate's camera except we had a very dodgy socket and she had to sit squashed for 45 mins holding the plug into the wall so you all better have a butchers at the pics!
3rd day headed up the Empire State Building for spectacular views then we had a marathon walk taking in Madison Square Gardens, Rockerfeller Centre, Saks,Tiffanys and Central Park. Also popped into Abercrombie and Fitch where there was an extremely fit model modelling in the doorway where we both nearly passed out, my God he was tasty! (sorry Joe!) That night went to Grand Central Station for dinner, which is an amazing place with over 35 places to eat! Puts York's Upper Crust and Burger King to shame! Headed home on the subway with an odd man who can only be described as wearing swimming goggles, Alex's face was a picture!
Last day in New York took a stroll over Brooklyn Bridge and headed?to Wall Street where we picked up a New York Hotdog!
Overall had a fantastic time in New York City going to Boston tomorrow for the next part of our adventure, stay tuned!
