Greetings one and all!
So we treated ourselves to a lie in this morning following being kept up by the pesky local birds (thats right, even the birds are going 24 hours a day here!).
Fully slept out we headed off into the midday heat in search of the infamous frozen cocktail...
After what seemed like hours we found one (they were everything we had dreamed of and more!), with that in hand we headed into the Mirage casino with our hefty $50 budgets in tow! The image we had in mind when we came here was the roullette wheels, the poker tables etc, so suffice to say we ended up on...
You guessed it! The $0.01 slots! We even went crazy at one point and played the $0.25 machines (it was madness). Our biggest win was Aimees $10.00 but as ever it all went back in but what the hey, we enjoyed it! (yes I got a picture of my winning ticket for $3.50 as well).
One thing i noticed about the casinos here is that you can smoke inside, as a cloud covered fat woman demonstrated next to me - otherwise that jackpot would have been mine!!
Slotted out and physically starving (we nearly called ourselves an ambulance at one point it was THAT bad) next stop was lunch with the plan being a buffet at one of the big hotels (MGM Grand, Bellagio's or Caesars Palace) so we decided to take a walk and and have a look before deciding so we walked, and walked, and then walked a bit more (whilst being hounded by the dodgy mexican bandits with 'Girls 4 U' cards in hand stood next to the newspaper dispensers that were in fact filled with porn mags - we were outraged!) by which point it was practically dark so we settled on...
The Harley Davidson Cafe!! OHHHH YEAAAAAA!!! Not quite the MGM Grand but at this point we didnt care.
Aimee kindly dragged my hunger ravaged carcass in and we enjoyed a scrumptious feast of BBQ ribs and Fried chicken, I even took away a doggy bag with half of my Reeses peanut butter pie!! (hey we're on a budget, waste not want not and it was amazing...)
Top buttons were un-done for the walk home (how we wished we carried a spare pair of elasticated joggers for times like this!) and thanks to the slow ass service (they even had the cheek to add the 17% 'service charge" to the bill as well!) we missed the Mirage volcano show but we did get to watch the Bellagio show AGAIN (sigh) - Aimee says to mention that the show was set against the Titanic soundtrack 'My heart will go on', which was really good, apparently...
Award for the most amusing sight of the day has to go to the homeless man (bum) on one of the walkways who was stood holding a sign that read:
"I wont lie...I need a beer"
Gotta say, 10 out of 10 for honesty (and balls).
So after a hard day of gambling and eating (Vegas in the springtime sun really takes it out of you!) like a pair of homing pigeons we left in search of our trusted steed and bedded down for the night.
Two final things to mention here (from Aimee)...
A) Chloe you best get seriously saving if you wanna have a good time here (mega expensive)
B) Vegas was nothing like the 'Honeymoon in Vegas' I had in mind but it was still pretty cool
A & M xxxx
